Dead Laptop Battery?!
Hello!!
I have what seems to be a problem with my laptop. When I have the A/C Adapter plugged in, my laptop turns on and works fine. If I disconnect the A/C Adapter, my laptop shuts down. The battery says it is 100% fully charged. When I try and turn my laptop on without the A/C adapter, it doesn't do anything. Also, I have a small battery icon on my laptop that is supposed to light up when charging, and it doesn't do so. Please help! What is the problem? P.S. I have a Gateway laptop that is only 1 year old. Last edited by mbelle; September 24th, 2004 at 02:04 AM. |

Certainly sounds like the battery is toast.
How's your warranty? |

Unfortunately it does sound like a battery. Try pulling the battery from the laptop and clean the connections, then put it back in.

Unfortunately, my warranty is over
What is the best way to get a new one? Do I need a new one? |

you should be able to get a battery at the manufacturers website.
