Angry missing files and corrupt files drivers causing windows to slow

After six months i got my laptop back from my cousin. He obvisously messed with it, deleting files, etc. After i got it back i started it. I got a black screen asking what i wanted to do so i selected boot to last good configuration. I tried to do i system restore, couldn't pop up says error 0x8000ffff. I looked at my drivers and noticed i could not update them. Looked under all programs, start up file and it was empty. Not to metion everything is slow.

Is any of this this fixable?

Do you have a "Vista" DVD, if so put it in and see if it boots from it, then select Start Up Repair...

So when you boot you are pressing the F8 key repeatably then get a menu that lets you chose different items? Such as:

Safe Mode
Safe Mode with Networking
Safe Mode with Command Prompt
Last Known Configuration (advanced)
Start Windows normally

Have you tried Safe Mode?

How are you seeing drivers, all programs and start up file if it doesn't boot?

OK if it boots up normally, although takes time, then Vista is not completely corrupted.

When you get to the welcome screen, is there an ICON you click on? Maybe has your name on it?

If you go to START > and type User Accounts in the Search Box
Click User Accounts from the list of results (The User Accounts Window opens)

Your user account type is listed beside your user account picture

Is there more than one? Maybe your cousin made his own user account and it is automatically logging into it.

If more than one, then Click Start > Log Out

Then Log in different user

If yours is the only account then I would do the following:

Start > type Command Prompt or cmd in the search box, right click Command Prompt and then click Run as Administrator

At the blinking cursor type the following:

sfc /scannow (space after "sfc")

Hit enter

After the process is finished, you may receive one of the following messages:
  • Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations.

This means that you do not have any missing or corrupted system files.
  • Windows Resource Protection could not perform the requested operation.

Try selecting SAFE MODE, let it load. Then reboot the computer and see if it starts normally.

Yes. System restore still says error code 0x8000ffff and still can not update drivers.

Something is corrupt on your hard drive. Do this:
  1. Open Computer by clicking the Start button , and then clicking Computer.
  2. Right-click the hard disk drive that you want to check, and then click Properties. Probably C:
  3. Click the Tools tab, and then, under Error-checking, click Check Now. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
  4. To automatically repair problems with files and folders that the scan detects, select Automatically fix file system errors. Otherwise, the disk check will simply report problems but not fix them.
  5. To perform a thorough disk check, select Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors. This scan attempts to find and repair physical errors on the hard disk itself, and it can take much longer to complete.
  6. To check for both file errors and physical errors, select both Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors.I would recommend and will take a while.
