Slow laptop and drops internet

Hello,

For a while now my laptop has started running very slow, you can hear that there is something running in the background most of the time even if I am not using my laptop.
When on the internet either browsing or possibly watching Netflix it either drops the connection or just wont open a page.

Can someone please advise what I need to do to find out the problem? What information do you need me to supply?

How old is the laptop? How much free space do you have on the hard drive?

A good first step is to update your antivirus program and perform a full scan.

Possibly another good plan would be to transfer this to the malware removal forum.

My laptop is 4 - 5 years old, it is mainly for home usage and not work.

I have 800GB free space on the C drive

Antivirus is up to date, I use McAfee and I have done a full scan and also did a scan with Malwarebytes. It has not come up with anything.
