Hi Dan

Toshiba Satellite C55D - A5120

Windows 8.1 originally. Windows 10 was an upgrade. Version 1511. A friend installed the upgrade so I dont have the actual software. Yes, the upgrade has been working fine for a couple of years.

oops, my poorly structure paragraph/sentence was confusing... I meant has the sound work since the upgrade? did you check with toshiba's website to see if they have any updates. The device manager does not always check there.

also see if anything in the following helps.

Yes, Dan the upgrade is a couple of years old and the sound has always worked until now.

I was watching a YouTube video Monday and the sound went mute and never came back.

The sound troubleshooter keeps saying that a Generic Audio Driver is not fixed.

I have been to Device Manager under Game Controllers and uninstalled both drivers there. Im assuming 1 is the sound card. Both drivers reinstalled and working according to the pc.

I believe that I found the Generic Audio Driver under Windows Audio. When I try to reinstall the driver it begins but stops and goes back to the original. Should I uninstall and restart?
