Memory Issues & Runtime Errors

Hi there,

The first problem I have is my PC keeps telling me that it is low on memory. However, the C: drive has over 50% free space, and the D: drive over 20% - is memory a different thing?

The second problem I have is when trying to view pages on IE, several "runtime error" boxes appear and (usually) this ends up with IE closing and re=starting. Any ideas how that can be resolved?

Thanks in advance!

memory usually means ram, harddrive is considered storage space. how much ram do you have on your system? what are you doing when you get the error messages.

As far as your runtime error problems, you can turn off script errors in your msie tools - options - advanced section. However, usually when you get the error there is a problem with the webpage scripts - not with your system. What version of msie are you using? If the link is within the rules of this forum, provide a link to a page thats gets the errors.

OK, I have 1024 MBytes of memory under "general" and 512 MBytes of memory under "Memory Slot 1" - how do I know which one relates to RAM?

I am running version 7 of IE.

The runtime errors state "Runtime error 203 at 5A003CD1", "Runtime error 203 at 636E3EF5".

The latter one is received when I try to access my Facebook account via http://www.facebook.com/home.php?

Cheers in advance!

Hi selwyn1974. It might be a good idea if I had a look at what's running on your computer. Download Deckard's System Scanner (dss.exe) from here to your Desktop. Note: You must be logged onto an account with administrator privileges.

Make sure dss.exe is on your desktop and open an elevated command prompt. To do this, click on the Start button and type cmd.exe in the Start Search box. Rightclick on it and choose "Run as Administrator". Copy and paste the below string after the prompt>.

"%userprofile%\desktop\dss.exe" /config

When the DSS Configuration display opens click the "Check All" button. Then click the "Scan!" button to start the scan.

Once the scan has completed a textbox will appear - copy/paste those contents back here (main.txt). Also a the second text file, extra.txt, will show as minimized in your Task Bar. Maximize/Open this, and copy/paste those contents back here along with the main.txt please. (The logs can also be found in the C:\Deckard\System Scanner folder). You may find that the maximum characters allowed is exceeded when you post. If so, halve the logs and make several posts.

Hi selwyn1974. Your logs show that Spyware Doctor may be the cause of your problems. This software is a huge resource hog and I've seen it slow older computers until they choked. It also has an antivirus component that may be causing conflicts with Norton. Take a note of your Product Key, uninstall it and reboot and let me know if this helped.
