Unhappy Linux SuSE
Hello PPL> I am Having a problem with SuSE 8.1 Profesional ... I have installed it with no problems (seemingly). But when i go to boot iI get a "out of freq." message ...? Any advice?

I think it is a bug re: screen frequency. This is only a guess I had issues with SUSE 9 personal till I did a update and got the bug fix.

I forgot,
I also got that message once when I swapped monitors. It would not do anything but state out of frequency. I had to give the computer the monitor i installed the o/s on. Isn't that bizzarre?? oops:

Sounds like your monitor isn't responding to the default refresh rate (or res) like has been said. What you need to do is boot into single user mode and alter your X11 config file or Xfree86 file to change the default refresh rate.

/etc/X11/XF86Config-4

Hi Dave,
I did not want to muck with it too much as it was my sisters system. I wanted to run the linux computer to check some "no print" problems. Turned out the motherboard was kaplonked .
