Downloader.Generic.SSX: Moved by Murray
I recently got a Downloader virus on my computer that I have been having alot of difficulty getting rid of. I use Norton Antivirus 2005 and when I navigate using Internet Explorer, I will sometimes receive the following message: "Malicious Script Detected...Computer is Halted". At that point, Norton will begin quarantining files repeatedly. I periodically go to my quarantine file to empty it out every so often. I downloaded the live update as well as intelligent updater and then run the scan again in safe mode. It doesn't detect anything on my computer. I also use AVG Free and it detected the virus as Downloader.Generic.SSX. I have contacted Symantec but they have been less than helpful in attempting to this remove this virus. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!

It has detected a couple of files through this process. One was:
C:\ProgramFiles\NortonAntivirus\Quarantine\Portal\ 4CE11682.exe C:\ProgramFiles\NortonAntivirus\Quarantine\Portal\ 47F8034D.exe Even though AVG sends it to the virus vault, it does not seem to completely take care of the problem. I will log back into Normal mode in Windows after running the full system scan in safe mode and the process will eventually start all over again. I assume my registry keys have been altered, but I don't know which ones need to be changed.

Those files are in Norton's Quarantine folder. It's entirely possible that each AV is detecting files quarantined by the other. Aside from being a drain on resources, running two AV's can cause conflicts and this may be what you are experiencing.
Uninstall AVG, reboot and let us know if you still have a problem
