Malicious Script, HiJackThis List Here

Hi Everybody,
I have been checking out your forum throught out the day. Need a little help since computer has been acting strange for two weeks or more now. Malicious script appears when I try to save a project to my Visual Studio .NETsoftware and I desperately need it. I have used Ad Aware, Spybot, CWShredder, and Zone Alarm last night. Have scanned system for viruses with McAfee and three other online scan sites. System seems to be running much better but can't get rid of malicious script problem. Afraid I will have to uninstall VS .NET and reinstall unless someone here sees the problem. So I followed you guys links to HiJackThis and here it is:

Welcome to CTH DEdles. Close IE and all open windows and run Hijack This again. Check the below entries and click on Fix Checked.

Reboot, make sure that you can view hidden files and folders, run a search for the MYWEBS~1 or MyWebSearch folder and delete it.

I cannot find any reference to the below BHO. I would very much like a copy of ctsr2.dll please. Could you please run a search for it, copy it, zip it up (this is important) and send it to me. My address is annmarie@cybertechhelp.com. Thanks. I will report back when I have checked it out.

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {858126B0-3708-4051-AE8E-B48521401CA2} - C:\WINNT\System32\ctsr2.dll

In the meantime, perhaps we could just disable it until we know whether or not it is spyware. Go here, download and install BHO Demon and use it to disable that BHO only. Also post back a new Hijack This log.

Here is my new list and I am not sure if everything worked but did as you said. My Visual Studio .NET is still getting "malicious script" errors and freezing up. I just pray I don't have to uninstall and re-install it but it is looking like I am going to have to do just that. : (

Hi DEdles - thank you I received that file that you sent me and it has been confirmed as Spyware. Run Hijack This again and fix the below entry. Reboot afterwards.

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {858126B0-3708-4051-AE8E-B48521401CA2} - C:\WINNT\System32\ctsr2.dll (disabled by BHODemon)

Regarding the malicious script, your log is now clean so your best bet might be to try ScripTrap. When it detects a script, you will be given the option to block it.

News Articles I found About Malicious Script Today

Thank you so much for helping me clean my system up. I ran something called PcDocRx tonight and it says I have 256 problems and believe it or not every single one of them is in Visual Studio . Net 2003. Instead of buying this guys software, I think I will just uninstall it and reinstall. I will lose everything I have built so far but I think most of it is printed out for my programming class. First, I will try the Scrip Trap you suggested and see if this is an incompatibility with McAfee.
Here are some sites with news artcles about this script problem. Apparently, it is a new type of worm made in HTML tags. You don't even have to download an attachment. When you open your email, the malicious script is just there. What jerks to have created such a horrible thing! I just can't believe that with this type of attack that there are so many ways to get it into our systems now. At least Microsoft is working on it more and more and the link you have on the home page for IE Security Patch is part of the fix. I found this out tonight searching for news articles on the subject. Good Luck!

Hi DEdles - jerks is too kind a description! I could go on but I wont. Let us know the outcome. I would also be interested to hear if Robin Keir's utility helped.
