Exactly what happens when you try to play a DVD?
Do you have the software to play dvds? Like WinDVD or Power DVD? Also, complete system specs would be helpful. |

Thanks for your response.
Could you please specify what further details you need re: specs. From what i can work out - i think we have Quicktime movie player - i assumed that since the guy who built the computer installed a DVD drive that he also installed the corresponding software to enable these to be played - NO? Basically when i insert a dvd - nothing happens - it wont open using the movie player programme. |

OK here are my system specs:
Jetway P4X400DB motherboard, P4 1.6, Leadtek WinFast A180B T128 AGP video card, 512 mb DDR Ram, VIA AC'97 Enhanced Audio Controller, NEC 1100A DVD+R/RW, Sony CDRW 48x-24x-48x, 60 gig Maxtor HD, 80 gig Maxtor HD, Netgear FA310TX nic, Win98SE and W2000 Pro dual boot. Basically a list of everything in your computer and the Operating system. Quicktime is used for viewing streaming video online. You have to have a software program for viewing DVD movies. There are some free ones out there but I've never used any of them. There is a list here if you want to check it out. I use WinDVD which is great, but it came with my DVD drive so I don't know how much it actually costs. Many users also like PowerDVD. It's not a free one either though. Mary |
