Unhappy Video card died.

Anyone have a suggestion for an inexpensive replacement?

Motherboard: SHUTTLE AV40 with P4 1.6 processor.
Dead video card: Leadtek Winfast A250 LE TD (GeForce Ti 4200)

Talking

That's a nice card you "killed".

Are you sure it's dead?

Sell it on eBay, say it's brand new.

(kidding)

All I can say is that I have a GeForce 4 Ti4600 and I love it.

I've never even had the urge to OC, very satisfied with my selection.

I DIDN'T KILL IT. IT JUST DIED. I PROMISE.

Yep. It was a nice card. Pretty sure it's dead. I was playing a game and heard a slight "pop" sound and no video. The computer still boots (fans, lights, etc.) but nothing on the monitor. Not even post. Light on monitor stays at amber instead of green.

Monitor is working because I'm using it with another computer right now. Gotta be the video card. Bummer.

HELP!!!!!!

Well, it may not be the video card. I had an old PCI card and put it in the computer. Still no video. Anyone have any ideas what else it might be?

Does the computer sound like it's going through its normal boot sequences from what you can hear? Let it boot up for a while and see if you hear the windows start up theme sound. Then you will know that the computer itself is doing what it should be doing.

It its not the video card, I would try swapping the memory for a stick that you know to be in working condition, or take it out and see if you system beeps.

Do the same with the CPU.

It sounds like a normal start up. Haven't checked it with sound though.

I have two memory sticks in so I'll play around with switching them out and also check the processor. It will be Sunday before I have another day off to work on it so I'll post back any results then.

I have to completely unhook this computer and set up the other one so it's really a pain.

Well, it was a short in the motherboard. Had to replace it. The video card was sick too. Fan wasn't working properly and it was overheating. I have a cheapie in there right now so I'm still in the market for a good video card. Not until after Christmas though.
