Try running Windows Memory Diagnostics Tool - see here ("System and Maintenance" has been renamed "System and Security" in Windows 7).

Let me know if errors are reported and if so, I'll transfer your topic to our Hardware Forum for more help if you need it.

Hi AnnMarie;
will do. It's not my laptop, so will post when the scan is done. Subsequent to posting, I discovered that her anti-virus program was corrupt. I remedied that, and asked her to report any more blue screens to me.

As a history, toshiba laptop less than a year old, she had blue screens before, took in to repair shop and they replaced the hard drive. That was a few months ago. She tells me that she still got the blue screens and the store was surprised to hear it, however she was heading away for a few months and never got it back to the store.
She can't say if it's the same error or not as she hasn't the original notes.

I was hoping it was a driver or software conflict not hardware. Anyway, i will repost on the results of the memory scan.

take care

Most BSOD's are hardware related Riva and with that history, my recommendation is that she should take it back again while she is still covered by the warranty.

Nod, already mentioned the warranty and return to seller option, but she said last time the seller wanted to keep it for up to 8 weeks under their warranty program, and she couldn't be without it that long; so she took it to a local computer shop and they did the work (ie replced the hard drive). Anyway, i will report on the results of the scan as soon as i get over there again. have a good night. Riva

Hi AnnMarie;
the scan showed hardware errors, and I've convinced her to talk to where she bought it whilst the warranty is still good. So thank you for your assistance. Very much appreciated, as always. take care. riva
