black/blue error screen

Hiya,

I wonder if anyone can help me, when I turn on my PC it come up with a black screen that says; start in safe mode and 2 other options about safe mode, it also gives an option of rebooting windows normally, I have tried safe mode, which brings up a blue screen which says:

one of my files is courpt and windows has been stoped to prevent further damage!

when I try to reboot it doesn't work either and I still get a blue screen,

the problem started just after the eletric tripped in my house i turned my pc on and it was slow i then turned it off by the wall and when i tried to turn it back on I got the black screen

is there anything I can do, (i cant reinstall windows as i dont have a disk) other than that or should I just take it to pc world to fix? does anyone know how much it would cost to be fixed?

or is it worth buying a new pc, this one is a year old?

Howdy and welcome to CTH:

What is the make and model of your system?

Also, where is your XP install cd as you are going to need it.

Okay.. The newer Dells have the Restore files built into the hdd already.

As per Dell:

Systems shipped after July 15, 2004 came with Symantec PC Restore. This utility restores the computer to an "as-shipped" condition. If you haven't reformatted, repartitioned, or otherwise modified the master boot record, it should work. Click here for instructions about Symantec PC Restore.

If you don't have this option then you will have to contact Dell and have them send you the required c d's.

Did you understand my post? You got your system in 2005 right? What does my post say about the Restore program and the link you need to use?
