CPU fan recommendations

Hi all, first post.

Hi, I have a Dell 4550 computer with an Intel Pentium 4 2.40 GHz CPU and I need a new fan. It is a 478 but don't know anymore about it such as if it's a Prescott or Northwood (?). Those are names I've seen associated with the 478 P4 Will the Thermaltake TR2TT TR2-M12 work with this or do I need another fan?

In fact, what good, reasonably priced fan would you folks here recommend? Is there anything else I need other than the fan? Also, the only place I'd know to buy it is newegg. I'm open to suggestions and guidance.

Thanks kindly

Looking at dell support for these 4550 computers,
Only dells support shows some of the mobo and cpu's in the LGA755,
You can download and run this program from dell downloads and support,
and this sould let you know what in your pc,
link,

CLICK on i agree,
and you will get the pc details

And add this link to your favorites,

liondad,

Thanks for the information. I followed your directions and it was very helpful. Dell has a fan, but it's refurbished, and I'd like to get something new.
