Dual Boot problem win 2000 & win 98se

I installed windows 2000 Pro over windows 98se, icons & shortcuts not working. Can I re-install windows 98se? Will it work correctly? Will I lose my shortcuts & icons?

Hi Jcampbe428sr,

Not quite clear from your post what part a dual boot is playing in your situation. To address the 98se reinstall, if you installed 2000 with NTFS then you will have to reformat the drive (and a few more steps) to reload 98, and all information will be lost. However, even if 2000 uses FAT32 much information will have to be removed prior to the 98 reinstall. See here for details and instructions:

Before you decide to reinstall 98, one other very realistic possibility would be to get help resolving the shortcut or any other issues, and finishing setting up 2000 as your primary OS.

Let us know how we can help.
