Question Can I increase the speed of my dialup?

I'm using a 56k PCI Modem V.92 , everyone in the area has 24 - 28 kbs , except my brother said his ex wife had 48 kbs . Can you advise a setup, hardware or software (without spyware or adware)?

The only way to increase your speed is by getting another connection (broadBand). 56k modems can only do so much. I doubt it was going that fast. So basically, no, there isn't a way to increase your speed.

What about a serial port external modem?
I have a Intel 536EP modem not a PCI v.92 , the .92 boasts .5 times faster speed , is it worth a try installing a V.92?

V.92 are like upgrading form a USB to USB 2.0

ANyways, Try upgrading your drivers for the modem via the site who makes it, sometimes its a driver issue to get it higher (it can only go so high ofcourse). I once had a Modem which toped at 32 around and contacted the site, the driver which comes with it that you buy had a problem with it and the site who made the modem was able to provide a newer driver which allowed be to go around 48 with the modem

Onspeed claim to speed up your connection. I know they are a reputable company but I've never tried this program myself so I can't vouch for it. It has had some good reviews though.

An external modem will increase your speed a little and so will most isp accellerators. What an external will also do is eliminate conflicts, but going from 28 to 48 is really a barely noticeable phenomenon. Why not look into Dsl plans, we have many now at $15 a month for lesser speeds but you would need a seatbelt for those speeds at 750kbps.
