Advice on mobo

hello all
I am currently looking at buying a processor/mobo bundle. i have found one from novatech. The board is ECS L7VTA Socket A Motherboard and it comes with a Athlon XP 2400 processor. I have looked up this motherboard and havent read anything bad about it. The one question I want to know and cannot find out is what is the maximum processor speed that the mobo can take? Does anyone know a website taht will say this? The reason I am so keen on finding thsi out is that I dont really want to replace my mobo for a bit but will want to upgrade in the future. I dont want to get a new motherboard that will limit by upgrade options in the future

Thanks
Richard

Hi kjbunete,

Thanks for the reply. Just a slight query. The web address you sent me was useful but the processor spec was as follows:

Socket A for AMD Athlon / AMD Athlon XP / AMD Duron
AMD processors at 600MHz to 2.24GHz (Athlon XP 2800+) or higher
Support for 200 / 266 / 333MHz FSB

So I presume the slowest AMD processor I can put in it is a 600MHz. However it seems a bit ambiguous with regards to the fastest. It just says 2.24GHz + Higher. Is this becuase the faster processors have not come out yet (XP3000??) so they cannot say they support it?

Richard

c the problem is that amd will phase out the xp series in a year or tow in favour of 64 bit chips
so it's best not to worry as by the time you need a new processor you will no doubt need a new mobo anyways
