Help Please !!!!!!!
A while ago, in vista, I created a slide-show CD of my grandson. Then gave the CD away. The file I have in store is a VOB file. I can play in vista on 'VLC Media Player' I can convert it to AVI in vista on 'AVS Video Converter'. But because I only have it on trial, it puts an icon in the middle of the screen. In Mint-12 it tries to play the VOB file, but only produces the sound. - No Picture. I haven't been able to find linux software that supports the VOB format, without using Wine. Or linux software to convert VOB to AVI easily. Can any-body help please? Last edited by sladden; February 11th, 2012 at 02:19 AM. |

WoW !!!!!!!!!!
I had allready installed it through 'Software Manager', but it wouldn't work. I just tried 'Synaptic Package Manager' and found 'vlc & vlc-nox' in there but needing updates. Trouble is they can't update. So NBG. Then I saw 'vlc-data' un-installed. So I selected it and installed. Now they still can't update. But. *********VLC Works Good************ Thankyou |

I was running Mint12 through all that.
Although it is only just released. I installed it, and was told to download 54 updates on the same day. On day 2 I was told to download 356 updates. On day 3 I was told to download 433 updates. It downloaded OK but half way through the install. It made an error and packed up. I tried a new update. It downloaded and installed 32 updates. So I gave up and got on with slide-shows. 3hr later. It told me to download 243 updates. Half way through the install, it made an error and packed up. I rebooted. The screen opened up right. But, any software I opened would not go bigger than 1/4 screen. I think it needs a bit more stability fixing. I installed Xubuntu 11.04. It installed VLC with no problems at all. So far. Apart from Xubuntu's soft audio output problem - Through inbuilt speakers - (Headphones and Self-Powered-Speakers work fine). What I want is there and, so far, all is very stable. |
