Installing XP over Vista

Hi guys,

I hope I've posted this in the correct forum:

I'm looking to purchase a new laptop, but would really like to remain using XP (because I'm not prepared to update my software apps yet). I can't seem to find anyone selling XP machines anymore, so I'm thinking of buying a Vista laptop & an XP+SP2 OEM, and then doing a clean re-install.

My question is, am I likely to run into any major issues (ie such as driver problems) or do you think I'll be ok?

Thanks in advance.

Drivers could very well be a problem.. I would decide what laptop I wanted first then make sure I could get all of the xp drivers. May be download them to a disk first..

for Driver backing up, use 'Driver Max' software for backing up drivers..

Each of these Dell Laptops comes with Windows XP preinstalled with a Vista Business license also.

Cheers guys, that's some great advice. I think one of those Dells will do fine. If I may, I'd just like to ask one further question:

I have an old Packard Bell laptop and it has a 'System Restore' feature which can be accessed on boot. The feature essenitally formats the hard-drive (lose all settings & files, which is fine) and reinstalls XP & the HDD to the same state as when purchased. Is this something still common in modern laptops? I find it useful as I usually do a clean restore every 5/6 months.

Thanks, again, in advance.
