Umm, no - not true at all. It would give a very specific direction and yes, it could be pointing to a house exactly in line behind yours but all the badguy has to do is move down the street 20 feet and point the antenna at your house again. It is simple to triangulate on a RF source.

Think of a directional microphone - a good one can isolate a single voice among many and sound "scatters" in a much wider pattern, bouncing off everything.
