Custom Install Confusion

Hello all

With an upgrade disc what is the "custom" Install for I know it is basically a clean install but why is it on the Upgrade disc? Are m$ allowing us to clean install with the upgrade disc in certain circumstances, if so what are they?
Just curios as am planning on getting win 7 for crimbo but I need to put it on 2 computer and full retail version seem to be 1 Pc only.

Many thanks

If you want to put win 7 on two computers, you will need two keys. It makes no difference if it is an upgrade version or the full retail version - you need two keys!!!

In order to install win7 upgrade, you must have a legal activated operating system installed on your computer. If the win7 disc does not see it, it will not install. You can do a clean install. You will need to boot your system, insert the disc, and it will give a choice to do an upgrade or a clean installed.

Legally if you use an upgrade, you must get rid of the justifying os. So when you do the clean install it will delete your vista.

Fantastic thats exactly what I wanted to do!

So you only really need to buy the Full retail version if you dont currently have a legal copy of a qualifiying MS os.

Makes perfect sense now thank you very much renegade600 your a legend!
