If you are refering to HijackThis then ignore Norton. Norton only says that because HT is a .vbs file. It is safe to download.

HijackThis is not a VBS file. It is an Executable. It is safe to download.

You can download Spybot Search & Destroy from here:

http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download

After you download and install it, check for updates, then run. The program will scan you system for unwanted spyware. It is safe to delete everything it finds.

Sorry degs, had vbs on the brain or something.

Hi Dusk2dawn:

I have spybot and it is easy to install and use. I run it 3 x a week for protection. That will be great if you can easily get rid of your issue with spybot!

Were you able to download HijackThis? If so open it and click on the 'run a scan and save a logfile' button. Do not do anything other than copy the results. Start a new thread in the Cyber Safety board and post your copy of hijack this and let the pros there help you out. They can better help you since I'm not that great at understanding the logs.

This might sound a bit daft, but have you tried simply uninstalling it? Many NewDotNet installs can be removed via 'Add/Remove Programs' in your control panel, along with the associated toolbar. If it isn't listed there, there may be an uninstaller in the NewDot Net folder itself... It might be worth a look before going to war on it...

Murray is not upset with you. He's sorta like a Thread policeman. He was just telling you not to make a new post but to keep using this one so everyone wouldn't get confused.

Did you run HijackThis and post the results in the Cyber Safety forum? You can start a new thread there since I told you to. Just copy and paste your results in the new thread there. Let 'Need help with NewDotNet' be the title of the new thread. OK?
