Very, very, VERY slow computer

Yes. I read the sticky... Nothing seemed to work...
Wat the heck?

See? there are not many windows open and it's still close to 100 %... same when I closed some of the windows... Please. I need urgently help! I cannot stand this slow piece of **** anymore:

Intel Inside Pentium 4
512 of ram
Ati radeon x700 SE
Windows XP pro SP2

Post a pic of your Task Manager showing your running processes.
Something is running and eating up all your resources.

reinstall the os and try to install one anti virus and with latest updates and scan the pc do not install the unused softwares in the pc

Seems kinda drastic since we don't know what is using the resources.

If it's just a rogue piece of software, it most likely can be eliminated without an OS reinstall.

Not to mention the fact that this thread hasn't had a response in about a month. I suspect the OP got the problem fixed or just never checked back for a response. In either case, it's pretty much dormant.

Well, sorry for the inactivity. I've been busy lately.

All I did was format C:
I backed up necessary files on DVD's and scanned them with NOD32 with latest virus database. It found nothing. After that I installed Windows XP SP2 again. But It's still same slow. CPU usage is changing between 100 and 80, depending the programs I use.

I've also heard if your computer doesn't get cleaned from dust, then the CPU will slow itself down to decrease the temperature. Because the ventilator is not effective enough?
My computer can be compared to a plane. The ventilator sounds like plane's propeller.

Aight, this problem got fixed. I bought 1 GB of RAM and cleaned it from dust. Now it is as fast as a bullet!
