Copying files & settings from Old Disk to New Installation...... *

I have reinstalled XP on a new drive, but have all the files and folders from the old disk which is plugged in as a slave.

The Old disk would not boot, but all the files are there.

I know that File Transfer Wizard will take everything from the working old PC onto a new installation BUT

How do I transfer settings and data from a stand alone disk which is plugged in as a slave ?? It is FAT32

Love to know !

connect both the hard drive one as master and another as slave in my computer it shows both the hard drive totally how many partions are created and you can easily move if any of the hard disk is not detected then check the jumper setting and try

When you start the Files and Settings transfer wizard, tell it you're transferring from an old computer.

Eventually you'll get to a screen where one of the options is "Other (a removable drive or network drive)." Choose that option.

Then click the Browse button and in the window that opens, navigate to and select the slave drive where the stuff is you want to transfer.

Just finish stepping through the wizard after that.

Thanks for all that

Will remember it for next time, as my original post was almost a month ago !

I think I manually copied the data
