Question Will My PSU Hold another 4 fans

My computer specs are

Psu: qtech 300w
Motherboard: Gigabyte 7VM400AM-RZ
CPU : AMD Athlon XP, 1010 MHz
Graphics Card: nVIDIA RIVA TNT2 M64
Ram: 256mb pc2100 DDR
HDD: 1 70gb and 1 40gb on normal ata
Other: 2 cdroms and a floppy

Temperatures:

Motherboard 22 °C (72 °F)
CPU 41 °C (106 °F)
Aux 27 °C (81 °F)
Maxtor 6E040L0 36 °C (97 °F)
Maxtor 6Y080P0 42 °C (108 °F)

Cooling Fans:

CPU 3309 RPM
Chassis 2637 RPM

Voltage Values:

CPU Core 1.60 V
+2.5 V 2.59 V
+3.3 V 3.26 V
+5 V 4.27 V
+12 V 12.35 V
+5 V Standby 2.45 V

i have looked everywhere but dont really know what im doing, im changing my case to keep things a bit cooler and adding an extra 4 fans so the components dont die again!, would my psu be able 2 hold them? and also what power cord would i power them off, connection to the hdd's or cd roms

1 of the fans connects straight to the motherboard, also one of the 4 fans has blue led's!

How much room do you have in your PSU?

it should work fine, providing your motherboard has enough empty fan slots. i have a 350w psu, 2 disk drives, 2 hard drives, a graphics card that requires a power connector and a 350 watt psu minimum, and 6 fans altogether(1 motherboard chipset, 1 psu, 1 cpu, 1 gpu, 2 chassis) and 1 space left for another fan. computer has been running fine with this configuration
Edit: forgot my floppy drive is also plugged in

High performance fans only use about 1/4 amp each. 4 fans about 1 amp.
Looks like your 300W should handle that bit.
Depending on the voltage of the fans you buy, 12vdc or 5vdc, you hook them to an extra molex connector if available. If not, I'd probably splice 2 fans into one of the other fans you have and splice 2 in the other. I wouldn't run the fans off the any of the drives. Check what voltage powers them first.
DC Ouput+5v (35A) +12v (18A)
As you can see, 5v and 12v have quite a bit to play with.
Does this help any?

i dunno what voltage they are, my case can hold 5 fans altogether and i have 4, they're all just standard 80mm :s

i dunno what u mean about what to power them off, i think the psu only has 4 power plugs, 2 for my cd roms and 2 for my harddrives, but one of the fans i have has 1 of them little plugs what connect straight to a socket on the mobo, so i got 3 more, would you connect them thru the supply to the cd roms or harddrives, i thought cdroms coz i neva use them for anything???????????????????

the case i have has a fan mount on the window without a dust filter on it, would u set that to intake or exaust?

ANDNDNDND what wud the psu do if it cant hold it all, wouldnt blowup wud it?

Hi

the fans have stickers telling you what voltage they run on, and they either say watt or Amp on them too
watt is voltage * amp

the connector on the fan tail (or its absence) is an indication of where it will go to.

I prefer working off the powersupply since I have seen too many mobo connector pinouts die because the fans they had plugged on was too powerful.

molex splitters are cheap
many PSU have a lead for rotation counter wire connection too.
That is for the PSU fan control.

when I want an airblast in there, I get case fans without rotation control wire, so I do not have to look for an available pin on the mobo fan connectors to plug that on.

I am not into fancy modding, I try to make my systems silent and well cooled, which is at times quite a balancing act.

next, filters
a filter on an outlet impedes air getting out of the case

the case has many holes and grilles to let air in, so that fluffy things usually wind up there, (and one can filter inlets) but my most practical tip is that you don't want to have your case sitting close to the floor of any room.

another tip is just as simple
don't put the case in direct sunlight
don't put it on/near the heating
don't close it in in a tight cabinet

on the molex connectors one plugs into IDE drives, the Yellow and its neighbouring black are 12V

one can buy case fans with molex extention on them, where one plugs the PSU end in the case fan molex, and its extention into a drive or into another casefan molex

if one is a bit handy with a soldering gun, and can get thermal crimp tube, one can make neat splits all by oneself. It's fun if you find the time to do that sorta stuff, and one can have real tidy results that way, but one must also realise that a few bucks of the correct hardware saves a lot of time.
