ECC vs non-ECC RAM
I have an Asus P4T MB which uses up to 2GB of RAM. When I got it, it had 4 64MB modules, and I think it'll fly with at least 1GB of memory.
Two of the 64MBs are non-ECC, (NECs) but the other two are not marked. They are Samsung. At least two memory vendors say the board will take ECC or non-ECC. Do any of you know if indeed that is the case? And if I put ECC and non-ECC together, would I get the 1GB and another 128MB? or should I just drop the non-ECC? |

Here's my canned text on finding the right RAM for your system. These popular RAM makers have auto-scanning and/or manual entry RAM wizards to help you determine which RAM is compatible with your motherboard. For manual entry, enter/select the PC or motherboard make and model number and the wizard will list compatible RAM.Crucial - Memory AdvisorThe following retailers have auto-scanners and manual wizards. They sell brand name and/or "house" brand (re-branded) RAM. |

That's what is nice about canned texts, they take no time to copy and paste!
