Wireless laptop card causing interference?

I am hoping someone can help me with this. I have recently installed a wireless 3com card into my laptop to access a 3com officeconnect 11g adsl router. I now have very annoying interference through the speakers which is in perfect sync with the lights on the wireless card flashing. How can I stop this. I am using Windows XP on a sony laptop.
Thanks Caroline

just a quick thought. have you tried changing the channel that you are using? though it is odd that it should cause static on the speakers. Wait!! What speakers are you talking about? The laptop speakers? If that is the case, then most likely changing the channel won't help. Are you running plugged in or on battery? Does it make a difference?

What kind of laptop do you have and how old?

interference annoyance

Its a Sony PCGFR825P not that old - maybe a year.

I have speakers plugged into the laptop normally when on my desk but even if I unplug them I get a static / interference type sound on the laptop speakers as well.

I haven't tried moving my laptop away from the adsl router (they are quite close normally) but it seems to be the card in the computer thats causing the sound anyway.

and this is in sync with the light... The simplest exercise is to try another card (but that requires another card, something most of us don't have ) Have you tried cleaning the contacts on the wireless card? Does this heppen both on battery and plugged in? I can see how this would be annoying and I don't think it is something that should happen.

You can always try 3Com and see what they have to say.
