Cannot log on

I recently downloaded an update which was the service pack 1 for windows vista home premium. I restarted and it worked fine. The next time I went to turn off my computer, there were more updates so I chose to download them as my computer turned off. When I turned my computer back on, I was unable to log on. I can still log on to safe mode which is what I am using now. Please help I have a test I need to study for. Thank you

Hi b577phaty. Are you saying that your computer turned off while the updates were installing? If so, this could indicate a hardware issue however try running System Restore and choose a date before the problem occurred.

No, the button to turn off my computer had a little icon showing that there was an update so I clicked it. It performed the updates and just shut off the computer. The next time I went to use it I pushed the power button and it said there was an error logging on. Also, for some reason my system restore was not active so there is not a restore date.

Ok, try opening Programs and Features in Control Panel, click on View Installed Updates and try uninstalling it.

It doesn't seem to be allowing me to uninstall the service pack in safe mode

I am unable to uninstall any programs I think because I am unable to log on as an administrator.
