sleep mode
This is my niece's computer I am asking about so I don't have much info on it.
Every time she tries to start it, it will begin to load windows xp as normal but before it finishes, goes to sleep mode. It will restart with the same result each time.
About all I know is that it is a desktop, and I have had her try it with the keyboard disconnected.
Thanks and if there is information needed for a diagnosis, let me know and I will try to contact her.

what are the setting when you go into
start > control panel > power options > system standby?

If she could get to "start > control panel > power options > system standby" that would kind of mean that the computer had successfully booted now wouldn't it?

goes it say going to sleep, whilst it is booting up?

That is correct, it never finishes booting.
