interrupted "cut&paste-function" recovery?

During a cut&paste to my Desktop, the message, "not enough room, do you want to perform cleanup?" appeared. I did and then realized my cut& paste file was not completed and was only 1/3 the original filesize. Can this be recovered in any way? the original file is gone.
