Upgrade XP Home to XP Pro - Problem
Upgraded XP home to XP Pro, everything seemed OK all settings appeared to have been maintained, until I tried to connect to the Internet.
My modem and ISP setup had gone. Tried to reconfigure using the network 'Wizard'. Only option available was permanent Broadband connection, Modem option was greyed out. Adding configuration manually brought up Error 711, 'Remote Access Connection Manager' not available, Check in 'Services' looks OK , restart all Services, no change. This only happens with an Upgrade, a new instal of XP works fine, but I would like to maintain the settings on XP Home machine. Ran SFC /SCANNOW , no corrupted files. I have put all services on Automatic and restarted them. 'Remote Access Connection Manager' gives an error message 5, which I cannot locate in 'Help and Support'. It appears to have a 'Dependecy' that is not activated. I am at a loss. Your thoughts on this matter and any help would be appreciated. |

Chill out bro, I did have the same problem. Mine was no different. There was no need for a new thread. Plus, by installing the SP1 (Q329441), you create problems, if you decide to upgrade to XP Pro....which is what happened to me. Anyway, it's fixed now. I had to delete/edit a few things under my registry editor. So, I'm good to go, now you can go back to your keyboard addiction....
