Exclamation 2001Gateway Computer with Windows ME wont start

Hey i need some help. I have an old 2001 Gateway computer with a St. Francis mid-tower. My problem is that even though the computer appears to be running nothing at all registers on the monitor(the orange light stays on instead of green). I can find nothing wrong with the monitor or the connections. I think that it has something to do with the hard drive, but I'm not sure. What is the recent history with the computer? Have you made any changes? Was it working fine for you and then just lost video? Explain please.
