Have you installed all your Service Packs from Windows Updates bevkoof_no_1? I see that IE 6 has not been updated. Try installing all updates next.

Hmmm, have you installed the IE service pack? Hijack This doesnt detect it.

Run a search for Appwiz.cpl. Did you find the file? If so, it's possible that it has corrupted. Go to Start > Run and type:

sfc /scannow

and OK (have your Installation CD handy). If this doesnt work, try renaming Appwiz.cpl and extract a new copy from your CD.

Put the Installation CD in your CD Rom Drive and go to Start > Run and type:

cmd

and OK. A Command Prompt will open. Copy and paste the below line after the prompt > and hit Enter. If your CD Rom drive is not E, change that letter first.

Quote:
expand E:\i386\appwiz.cp_ c:\windows\system32\appwiz.cpl
When you have finished, type Exit and restart your PC.

Welcome to CTH saiKo. It would certainly be appreciated if you update us if you find a fix before we do. You should be advised of any progress we make via email if you have enabled that option in your User CP.

Yow

Lo bevkoof_no_1

Do u use a registry mechanic or registry cleaner ?
This is usually the result of using a registry cleaning program and allowing it remove VarlID entries. If you have used such a program and allowed it to create backups of what it removed, you might try restoring the backup (reboot) and see if you can then access the add/remove programs menu.

There is a reg file fix available but I believe it would be preferable to restore your own backup first (if available) to see if it works.
It's the nineth problem from the top on this page:

Unhappy hello

Dear AnnMarie and saiKo thanks a lot for helping me.
I have done whatever was told to me. now i have an amazing find that all the errors occour if i use the mouse if i use key board shortcuts nothing happens (i mean there r no errors) and the add/remove the right click every thing works fine (that is from my Multimedia Keyboard). But if i even move the mouse in any of the process i.e Right clicking via keyBoard or opening the add/remove the PC freezes.

I also use a software named METASTOCK which has also stopped working since the problem started maybe it will start working when the problem is solved.

Hi bevkoof_no_1. Try uninstalling and reinstalling any mouse software. If you still have a problem, try a different mouse. Uninstall Metastock for now to make sure that it is not related to this problem.

Boot into Safe Mode and see if you still have a problem. If everything works OK, does Windows 2003 have msconfig (Start > Run and type msconfig)?

Hi bevkoof_no_1, I was thinking along the lines of a startup conflict however if you still have the problem in Safe Mode, it is most likely a hardware related issue. I'm sorry but I think we have gone as far as we can here. Try a new topic in our Hardware Forum.

Are you sure the infected file was explorer.exe, could it have been C:\explorer.cab? What was the file path?
