Invalid parameters from device driver
So I've been trying to install Windows 95 on a laptop that used to have Ubuntu Linux on it, so I think it's formatted to NTFS or something because when i view the partitions using fdisk, there's only one and I delete it and create a new one but when I try to format using "format C: /s" in the command prompt it says invalid parameters from device driver. So I then used Ultimate Boot Disk's DBAN hard drive nuke tool or whatever (which I've done twice and it takes forever) to completely wipe the hard drive but when I create a partition but the same error happens ("invalid parameters"). My laptop only has USB and a CD drive, and all I want to do is to install Windows 95! I've read that it needs FAT16/32 and I thought that the Ultimate Boot Disk's hard drive wipe would take care of it but it didn't. Thanks for the help, and if i'm in the wrong place please just redirect me.

You don't need to use the format command prior to installing Windows 95.
Windows Setup will automatically format an existing FAT32 partition before installing. Last edited by pip22; February 12th, 2011 at 04:22 PM. |
