Acer laptops

Hi,

I'm thinking about buying an Acer Aspire laptop. I've not really heard of Acer or their computers before, so I was wondering if anyone could give me some insight into problems or love stories about their Acer. Anything from performance to tech support experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your help!

I've never had one of their laptops. They have been around a long time. I bought an aspire desktop in 1995. They make parts which can be found in other computers to include cdroms and motherboards.

i have an Acer travelmate 2200, the bios / motherboard had a problem letting me use the keyboard when I put on a bios password.. Their tech support was quick, easy, helpful.., and both times being under warranty, I only lost use of the laptop for a total of 4 weeks between both.

other than that.. its been great. I've dropped it once, and it managed to survive.. the lid shell has a little crack, but the laptop still runs perfect.

dust reduction, is easy, there's only about 5 screws to do. casing comes off pretty easy.
memory and hdds are easy to expand.

I just bought a laptop a couple of months ago from a small outfit called www.netuplink.net. I purchased the Acer TravelMate TM5104WSMi and I am very happy with it so far. The customer service was great! If the online store does not have it you can call the 800 number or e-mail and they will price out whatever you want.

Yep ... as above my experience has been a good one.

I have an Acer Aspire 1680 and my son has a Travelmate.

No problems so far (touch wood)
