Computer probs...black email screens..no sound
Hi..I have an IBM Pent 4 with XP...i have scanned with Spyware Guard, Spybot,Trend, Microsoft Antispyware, and HJT..and they found nothing...then I run Regfreeze and it "supposedly" finds 5 problems(telnet.exe,bzhdr[1].js,ieengine.exe, and mcc.exe) but you have no option to delete unless you pay so i try to manually find them..to no avail!
I somehow have black backgrounds on msn emails and only comp sounds, no other sound files will work(no internet,musicmatch or windows media). It says no p2p or another message (forget, but not a reg one)...but all the programs and drivers for the sounds say they are working properly.. I have the HJT file if it helps...please help.. I can usually fix this comp..but the black email thing seems to elude me..and I dont know what else to check with the sound.. Thanks Here is my HJT log... Hi and Welcome
It may help to print out or copy this page as you will be working in Safe Mode.. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order its listed.. Download any of the required programs before attempting to start any of the fixes. SHOW HIDDEN FILES AND FOLDERS. To show hidden files instructions (WinXP) Doubleclick My Computer | Tools | Folder Options | View tab Select Show Hidden Files and Folders Uncheck Hide extensions for known file types Uncheck Hide protected operating system files (Recommended) Select Apply to All Folders | Yes | Apply | OK ------------------------------------------------------------------ Go to Start > Run and type cmd and OK. Type the below commands and hit "Enter" after each line sc stop ms-java.exe sc delete ms-java.exe Type Exit to close. ----------------------------------------------------------------- Download the trial version of Ewido Security Suite When installing, under "Additional Options" uncheck "Install Background Guard" and "Install scan via context menu". Launch Ewido Security Suite (there should be an icon on your desktop doubleclick it). The program will now go to the main screen. You will need to update ewido to the latest definition files. On the left hand side of the main screen click update and then click on Start Update. The update will start and a progress bar will show the updates being installed. If you have problems with the updater, you can use this link to manually update ewido. http://www.ewido.net/en/download/updates/. Do not run a scan yet. When you have done this, boot into Safe Mode (restart your PC and keep tapping F8 while it restarts). Run Ewido Security Suite now. Click on Scanner and click Complete System Scan and the scan will begin. During the scan it will prompt you to clean files, click OK. When it asks if you want to clean the first file, put a check in the lower left corner of the box that says "Perform action on all infections" then choose clean and click OK. When the scan is finished, click the Save report button at the bottom of the screen. Save the report to your desktop and close Ewido Security Suite ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Please run "Hijack This" ------------------------------------------------------------------ Go into HijackThis->Config->Misc. Tools->Open process manager. Select the following exe file and click End Process for each one if they are listed. ms-java.exe Nail.exe ------------------------------------------------------------------ Have "Hijack This" fix all the following items in the list below by placing a check in the appropriate boxes.Confirm that you have only the listed ones checked, then press <Fix checked> and Close HJT. Hi, did the Eiwido..found 46 virus...not found on the other 5 programs..jeesh...anyway..at the beginning where you told me to do the cmd then type in the stop ms-java...etc...i got a message that said" The specified service does not exist as an installed service". I did the scan..took the ms-java.exe out of the process manager..nail.exe wasnt there. Out of the new HJT log i attempted to take out the ones you mentioned..R3 wasnt there..(Default search...),F2 (Nail.exe) not there...other 2 "fixed".
The problem is...my Yahoo screen STILL comes up with the black background...hotmail doesnt do it so its not all screens. Here is the new HJT... Your log is ok but I can find very little info on C:\WINDOWS\system32\dllcache\ms-java.exe.Can you right click and check if its Microsoft.?

It has been comfirmed.Its one of the bad guys but first you will need to delete C:\WINDOWS\system32\dllcache\mssvc.exe.Do this in safe mode. This component hides the files and folders.
