Annoying MSN Message
Is there a way on Windows 10 using Firefox to stop MSN from snooping on me (as it knows what browser and OS I am on), to constantly be making me to click out of the way this screen release stealing message:
Make MSN your Homepage Add the MSN Homepage extension for Firefox.... Every time I open the page or refresh msn.com, that pops up on the website. Any thoughts or is this just an integrated nuisance, like auto following videos and such? |

1. Refresh Firefox:
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb...s-and-settings 2. Afterwards go to the firefox menu ≡ > addons > extensions and in case there are still extensions listed there, disable them. 3. Finally run a full scan of your system with different security tools like the free version of malwarebytes and adwcleaner to make sure that adware isn't present in other places of your system as well. |

No, sorry. That would not have anything to do with it. This is a freshly imaged drive from IT and I put Firefox on. This is also not just on Firefox, but IE, Chrome, and that Edge one. Even at home. So I am factoring it is coded into their MSN homepage website to be annoying, as I can not test it on a now Windows 10 system since all mine died.
Just not sure if there is a way to block it. Figured I ask. |

I don't know how it happens, but it is not MSN "snooping" on you.
I suspect a cookie thing. I just went to msn.com and got the banner you mentioned. I clicked "No thanks" then closed the page. I then opened msn.com again and this time, I got a different banner ad (this for the new Microsoft News app for iOS and Android). Again I clicked "No thanks" and exited again. Then I started a new page with msn.com a third time and I was NOT presented with any banner ads. I exited two more times and still no banner ads. This was with Pale Moon, a forked version of FF. Chrome was a bit more challenging. It took 5 times before I stopped getting the banner ads. Have you installed an ad blocker? |

just an fyi
those popups and ads are part of microsoft's campaign of trying to scare off users of third party browsers and get them to use theirs. if you are able to get rid of them, don't be too surprised if they return with the next windows update. https://www.ubergizmo.com/2018/09/mi...arty-browsers/ |
