Sound Blaster sound card listed as Emulated in dxdiag.

Hi there. I bought a Audigy 2 ZS to replace my five year old Vibra PCI 128 and noticed the sound quality while playing games was generally poorer than the old Vibra. I assume that's due to the Audigy being listed as Emulated in dxdiag. I don't really know what that means I just not it's a problem.

Can anyone help? There's an old dial up modem providing emulated sound also, although I've disabled it in Device Manager. Could that be the problem?

Thank you kindly.
