Firewall Stalling Computer

With the help of this community, I have recently discovered that my firewall has been the lasting cause of my computer repeatedly stalling. See the other thread I made on this (Computer Stalling Problem) for more details on the problem and how I discovered it was the firewall.

Basically, when I have my firewall enable, I get the problem of my computer stalling, and when I have my firewall disabled, I don't have that problem. I would like to figure out why this happens, and how I can fix it while keeping a firewall up.

Right now I have this problem with Sygate Personal Firewall, however I remember I had this same problem back when I was using ZoneAlarm. Maybe it is something with the OS or a conflict with another piece of software that's causing this problem?

Any help in figuring this out is appreciated.

What you might try is? Uninstall the firewall then reinstall it? And make sure your firewall is set up right?

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried uninstalling and then re-installing SPF, but that apparently didn't fix the problem.

Hi Monolith,

For clarity, please let us know if you had the stalling problems with no firewall installed.

BTW if you're on adsl or cable you would be far better off with a router if you can afford one. Software firewalls really aren't an equal to a good router for many reasons.
