nVidia GeForce 4 -- 440 MX (Not Working)

I have just acquired a new video card, (seen in title above) and I can't get it to run on my computer. I am fairly sure I installed the proper driver, but when I restarted my computer there were no noticeable display changes. I went to the settings and there are still only two graphics modes (16 and 32 bit).

It seems that the system is still running off of the rather distasteful On-Board "video card" that came with the motherboard.

Anyone have any ideas on how I should go about making this thing work?

(p.s. i'm fairly hardware illiterate)

I couldnt find an integrated video option, but here's what was shown under "Integrated Peripherals" in the BIOS setuip.

----Integrated Peripherals----

OnBoard IDE :Both
IDE1 Conductor Cable :Auto
IDE2 Conductor Cable :Auto
OnBoard FDC :Auto
OnBoard Serial Port1 : Auto
OnBoard Serial Port2 :Auto
Serial Port2 Mode : Normal
OnBoard Parallel Port :Auto
Parallel Port Mode :ECP
Parallel Port IRQ :Auto
Parallel Port DMA :Auto
OnBoard MIDI Port :300
Midi Port IRQ :5
OnBoard Game Port :201
OnBoard AC'97 Audio :Auto
OnBoard Lan Chip :Enabled

----End Peripherals----

Whatever is shown after the Colon on each line is the part that you could change.

Well, what do you make of it?

I guess i got a little further along...

Now when I plug my monitor cable into the video card it displays just a background image, but i can still plug it into my motherboard and it will display everything properly. One step further ahead? Have any ideas?

Also, I can run a game thats not supported by my previous video card, and then if I unplug the monitor cable from the motherboard and plug it into my card I can see the game ^^

It just seems like the card doesnt have full control of the video of the computer
