Random Shut Downs

This is on screwed up computer.It always shuts down (randomly,prolly will do it soon)when I'm do anything and everything.I lose power to all my usb ports,modem,video,sounds and everything....except my fans.I unplug it and have to wait a while before it will attempt to do anything else...HELP?!?!?

This looks to be a power supply problem. You are probably using more juice than your power supply is willing to give.

How much power does you power supply have? (200W, 250W, 3000W?)

I would also verify that all of your fans are cleaned and that you processor has plenty of breathing room.

It is running a 115v power supply.here's my system info if it helps...

Authentic AMD
AMD Athlon processor (800mhz)
384mb, Sound Blaster Live!,
GeForce 2 32mb

shutdown on XP

get a patch from microsoft.com: just search for it.

otherwise, when the message-box "shutting down in 23 seconds..." appears, click on the "Start" menu, point to "run" and type in "shutdown-a"

then it will dissappear. tada!

Open the side of the case, on one side of the power supply there should be a sticker with the wattage rating of the power supply.

Common ratings are: 230, 250, 300, 330, 350, 400, 450, 500, etc.

While you are in there make sure that all of your fans are running and that none of them look like they are trying to die.
