Random Shut Downs

Hey, i've recently been experiencing a problem where my computer will randomly shut off. There's no error message, no blue screen, it just turns off. I've done a system restore, disk defrag, reinstalled bios, drivers, I even took apart every component, blew out the dust, and plugged everything back in. I don't know what the problem is. It seems to happen when I open up Call of Duty 2, but it still does it occasionally other times. Any help would be appreciated

System specs :
Motherboard - Asus P5N-E SLI
Vid Card- ATI x1950xt
RAM - 1 gig Kingston 800 DDR2 240 pin
CPU - e6300 @1.8 ghz

Welcome to CTH

You need to turn off automatic restart on error, so you can get an error message which will give you an idea as to what is causing it.

To turn off automatic restart:

1. Right click on My Computer then to Properties

2. Click the Advance TAB

3. Under Startup and Recovery, click Settings to open Startup and Recovery dialog box.

4. Clear the Automatically restart check box, and click OK the necessary number of times

5. Restart your computer for the settings to take effect.

Now you should see an error message when it happens. Post it here.

Randum shutdowns can be cause by:

1. Failing Power Supply
2. Overheating
3 Failing video card

Since you said it happens the most when you open Call of Duty 2, then lets go to the video card first. Your card has a fan on it. Is it running OK?
Check to see if you have the latest drivers installed, also Directx. Drivers could be corrupt.

Running Directx diagnostic:

If all is OK, then you need to look at other hardware.

When XP shuts down like that it records an event in a log. Check your logs may give us a clue:

I have a page on logs: HERE
