Talking cdrom replacement

will replacing a x8 cdrom for a faster x52 cdrom cause any problems on a
win 98 266mhz machine such as data transfer speeds or is ok to just do a straight fordward swop

As long as they are both the same type, e.g. IDE, 3.5 inch etc, you shouldn't have any problems.
