no internet

I just acquired this laptop and can't get internet to come up. I'm using hotspot from my phone and my other laptop brings up internet just fine. And I have the wi-fi button set to on.

Brand Dell
MPN PP29L
Model Inspiron 1525\
Type Notebook/Laptop
Processor Intel Core 2 Duo
Operating System Windows Vista Home Basic
Processor Speed 2.00 GHz
Graphics Processing Type Integrated/On-Board Graphics
Ram 4GB
120 GB HD

All it says when I try to go on line is Windows cannot find any network

Thanks kuzzz

Try:

Delete the current Drivers and Install the Latest one.
-- Go to Device Manager and locate the network drivers,
-- Uninstall the network drivers, when you get the popup to uninstall it , put the check mark beside delete this driver.
-- Restart the computer.
Once the computer is restarted,
-- Go to www.support.dell.com
-- Put in your Service Tag and choose the Operating System.
-- Download and Install the latest drivers for the network adaptors for your computer.

Assume you found them here:

https://www.dell.com/support/home/us...n-1525/drivers

Download it to a usb stick it is a *.exe file The MAr 2012 One, then copy it to the Dell and double click it to install.
