Windows Updates Failing
This has never happened before, but my updates keep failing. Here's a list of the ones that keep failing:
Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2798162) Security Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2830290) Security Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2829361) Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer 10 for Windows 7 Service Pack 1 for x64-based Systems (KB2829530) Every time I try to restart the computer they try to install, but fail. Takes 30+ minutes every time. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. |

1. Start type the following in Search; services.msc hit <enter>
2. In the window scroll down until you see the Windows Update service, right click on it and choose STOP 3. Now go to the following folder; C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\ 4. Inside that folder delete all the files and folders 5. Now go back to the Services dialog and right click on the Windows Update service and choose Start. All the files and folders will be re-created. Now try the updates. Possible one of the current updates that were downloaded (which you just deleted), is corrupt and Windows gets confused and thinks the service is no longer running. |

Which part of that link should I focus on? I am not super PC savy when it comes to very techy stuff.

When you first called up the link, were you prompted to run the fix?

I think if me, I might try one of two things. First, I would look in Control Panel > Programs and Features, then click on Installed Updates and see if those offending updates are there, and if so, I would uninstall them, reboot and run Windows Update again.
You may need to install them from a Clean Boot. |
