No I don't have the name of the Bluetooth dongle in order to look it up.How do I find out it's name
.I assumed that merely inserting it Windows would automatically install it.

That link took me to Win 8 64bit Upgrade from windows 7,I am on Windows 10 so maybe that is the problem ,it leads to Atheros 8.0.0000.0209 ,then I have to select 32 or 64 Bluetooth_ Suite or Set All then Setup Config which I select that ends up with Windows 8 64bit Upgrade from Windows 7 page.I assumed that as I chose download Bluetooth it doesn't appear to have downloaded ,it just shows as Download Not Downloaded . Atheros the driver doesn't show in device manager as existing .Sorry to be so rambling but I am going round in circles as I have obviously put a foot wrong somewhere.

When you go to the download page under operating system you should see Windows 8 64 bit [upgrade from Windows 7]

It should work with Windows 10.

Click on the + sign next to Driver (8)

Double click on the Bluetooth Driver on the right that says Download

The file you download is called Bluetooth Atheros 8.0.0000.0209 W8x64UW8x86U A ZIP

Make sure SAVE FILE is checked

This is a ZIP (compressed file)

Now go to the folder where you downloaded it to and find the file you will see a folder with a zipper on it.

Right click on the folder and extract all

It will extract all the files into another folder called BT_Atheros 8.0....xxxxxWin8x86x64

Now DOUBLE CLICK on that folder and you will see a file called Bluetooth_Suite.EXE

Double click on it and follow the instructions.

I get as far as the last sentence in your instruction, which shows Bluetooth _Suite application, this does not show Bluetooth _Suite. EXE.Clicking on the Bluetooth_Suite brings no action, just no response.I,be gone wrong somewhere it seems.

Got no where with that,"Turn off pc hold down power button for a period " My notepad does not have Bluetooth fitted Acer tell me, does this mean that a Bluetooth dongle will also not work.I saw somewhere that Acer has a module fitted in some of their machines to enable Bluetooth which was an expensive piece of kit. a side issue, I tried to log in on an ipad and forgot my password and have changed my email address some years ago to one you don't recognise .how can I put that right, incidentally the Captcha and administrater buttons don't seem to work

  1. Click the Start menu and select Settings.
  2. Click Devices.
  3. Click Bluetooth.
  4. Move the Bluetooth toggle to the desired setting.
  5. Click the X in the top right corner to save the changes and close the settings window.

Now try plugging it in and see if windows recognizes it.

for IPAD if you forgot the password to get in, you will need to reset the IPAD, then reinstall any programs you installed after getting the ipad.

Models may ship with the Bluetooth software, but may not have a Bluetooth module installed for Bluetooth communication. this is my problem it seems .Doe's not having the module ,prevent a Bluetooth dongle working if I get one.
