At the top of the dialog box is cli.exe - common language runtime debugging services
then, Application has generated an exception that could not be handled.
process id=0xde0 (35520, Thread id=0xde4 (3556).
click ok to terminate the application.
click cancel to debug the application.

sorry for the confusion, but should i be on the vista forum or xp? and is this enough of the error message? i think somthing else comes up if i click ok to terminate the app.
oh bye the way the tab for the error in the task bar has ATI on the left hand side.

Yes that's good. The error is generated by a non essential startup associated with your sound card.

Go to Start > Run and type:

msconfig

and click ok. Click on the Startup Tab and uncheck the below startup.

Reboot. You will get a message about Selective Startup. Check the box that say's "Do not show me this again" (or similar wording). Let us know if this helped.

Thanks AnnMarie. that did the trick. i am currently running avast anti virus but my system will not let me run a boot time scan now and gives me an error message. "registry change denied. identified user as black list" "resident denied the change on bootexecute based on your black list"
any ideas?

That's a Spybot message isnt it. I loathe that program. Uninstall it and reboot. It causes more problems than it fixes.

Thanks for the info. Can you recommend another spy ware other that spybot without such issues? Oh, as the tread indicated with the fatal enging error, i should replace my windows net 1.14v file. where do i get a clean version and how do i get rid of my existing one? and is this necessary.

I have a Dell inspiron E-1705 media center edition with windows xp and when I click on my media center Icon to open up the player,I just get a an Error box = Fatal Execution Engine Error (0x7927f26e) then I click "ok" = Application has generated an exception that could not be handled. Process id=0x990 (2448),thread id=0xcec(3308).
click ok to terminate the app -cancel to debug.
Then when I hit cancel to debug, a box pops up saying:
registered jit debugger is not available.An attempt to launch a jit debugger with the following command resulted in an error code of 0x2(2),Please check computer settings.

cordbg.exe la 0xfc0

click on retry to have the process wait while attaching a debugger manually.Click on cancel to abort the jit debug request. Retry does nothing but close it out.(also does cancel)


I had Dell technical support guy tried a bunch of stuff but is telling me that I need to reformat.......uhg please tell me you know more then this guy and I don't have to go through the pain of reformating?

LOL Yeah,I guess that wasn't enough information,but the dell tech jumped on my computer through remote access and it looked like he was just checking in the registry but the bottom line was that the only thing he did was install .net framework 2.0 because I told him that I thought it might of had something to do with .net framework.The reason being is because I was trying to use rapidshare's download manager and you net framework 2.0 for it to work and I installed it but it did not work anyway so I tried uninstalling it.He basically reinstalled 2.0 and had me do a system restore from as far back as my computers last reformat.It still did not help so he told me that something (sorry,I forgot)was corrupt and I needed to reinstall windows.Im checking on this site because it sounds a bit drastic to have to reformat my computer just because media center doesn't work.I mean,he just couldn't find the answer in my opinion.Of course,he knows more then me so ummm ?Any suggestions would be cool.Thank you

I need to see what programs you have installed. Go here and download the latest Trend Micro Hijack This.

Doubleclick on Hijack This to run it and click on Open the Misc Tools Section > Open Uninstall Manager and click on Save List. Save the log to your Desktop and then post it in this thread.

Try installing Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1. Reboot afterwards and let us know if this helped. If it doesnt, I'm sorry but I dont have any other suggestions aside from running a repair of XP. I thought that Dells came with an installation CD rather than a Recovery CD?
