Can I Upgrade My Windows Vista Home Premium 32bit OS?

I currently have Windows Visa Home Premiun Edition (32bit) installed on my PC. I am only allowed a total of 4GB of RAM. Can I upgrade to a 64 bit OS so I can install up to 8GB of RAM? What is the easiest and cheapest way to go about the upgrade if it is possible?

thanks for your time!

Did your vista come with your computer or did you purchase it separately? It makes a difference.

IMO wait until windows 7 is released and get it.

Something to consider, if you upgrade to 64 bit, you will need to do a clean install.

you will have to purchase upgrade version of vista 64. Someone will have to correct me if wrong but you may have to purchase the 32 bit upgrade then get the 64 bit key from microsoft.

Thanks for your replies! Looks like I'm stuck with my 32bit OS unless I want to do a clean wipe and install a new 64bit OS. Just curious, what is the cheapest route to take when purchasing a 64bit OS that can handle 8GB of RAM?

Thanks!

Windows 7 will be released in a month's time (October 22nd) manooly. Why not wait and see what deals are offered then?
