system upgrade

Hi - my current HDD is failing and rather than buying an new one I am upgrading my entire system. New systems without monitors are fairly inexpensive.
The new system will have the VISTA OS .... for better or worse I'm going to try it.

Here is my question: I have a Master HDD and a Slave HDD in my current system. Can I backup all my current files on my current system to the slave and then add the slave to my new system and restore them to my new Master HDD?

Thanks ........
