Question which harddrive??

i want to get another harddrive, this is to improve the performance of my pc for audio work. i have been looking at different drives, im not sure which one to get! i know that scisi drives are fast, but will this be compatable with my pc? is it easy to install? is there anything i need to know here before i go ahead and buy a fast SCSI harddrive? i dont need a large one maybe about 40 to 100gb the only thing that matters is speed, i want the best one available

here is my current specs:

ASROCK/K7S41-GX
AMD 2800+ Sempron
512MB DDR333 PC2700 DIMM empaq
120GB 2MB Cache Maxtor ATA133

any info, or advice here is really appreciated

thanks for the links, im still a bit confused about something, will my motherboard be compatable with some of the new harddrive technology? like SATA and SCISI

look at the specs of my board:

ConnectorIDE 2 x ATA 133/100/66/33
Floppy 1 connector
SIR/CIR 1/0

i have a feeling my board does not support these drives, so im going to have to buy a new computer! can someone point me in the right direction, i want to have a custom built computer, but for a good price. are asrock boards good? like these http://www.vantagecomputers.co.uk/cc...53e9361dab67e8 i might have a pc built for me from that site

For SCSI you will have to get a SCSI controller card .

For SATA you can get a IDE to SATA card .

How much you want to spend is key to the file system and its speed, especially if you are thinking SCSI.

Not so if you are looking a SATA or PATA.
