Hi grengy009,
When you run 3D Mark05, have the absolute minimum running in the background. Clear everything from your systray. Don't even connect to the 'Net. Also, move onto some of your ATI driver settings. Open up the ATI Control Panel. Once opened up, click on the SMARTGART Tab and put the dot in 'Fast Write Off' and make sure the AGP setting is 8x. Now click on the VPU Recover Tab and take the check out of the 'Enable VPU Recover' box. Finally, on the Troubleshoot tab, take the check out of 'Enable write-combining.' Click Apply > OK and you will be prompted to re-boot. Also, certain drivers perform better. It's up to you how much you want to experiment with different ones. |

Sounds like your onboard graphics are taking over instead of the graphics card. You need to disable obboard video in the BIOS, as well as removing any of it's drivers and ensuring you have the Catalyst drivers.

oh it helped a little bit but im still getting low 3dmark05 scores like 3900 maybe becuz my driver arent whlq verified? or the onboard video is messing it up... also before i had my 3dmark scores in mid 4000's and my cpu was at least 1.0+ score now my cpu is also lowered to like .6

Hmm, do you have a PC or motherboard manual available? It will direct you how to disable onboard video and use AGP, it might be automatic, or there might be a switch on the board, every board is different.

what so bad about 3300!?
i cant even run 3Dmark 05 on my Geforce 4 Ti 4800SE which was a high end card bout 2 yrs ago!!! bought it for $230 ahhhh!!! 3Dmark 03 gets me to 1688 01SE gets me to 10000 00 12000 on default settings and CS source aint a low end game anything above 25FPS is a good FPS because your eyes cant detect anything faster than 25FPS lagging online in BF2 is probably your connection speed Broadband ADSL 256k/64k you will mostlikely lag on that and you probably playing with like a million bots lagging your CPU getting lower 3dmarks than other systems is probably you have like 1000 processes running in the background compared to them having only 23 Last edited by cHiNgY1788; November 29th, 2005 at 11:07 AM. |

no because i close all my processes including internet and my speed is dsl but keep in mind that if i lower the settings on bf2 it doest skip fps anymore but i shouldnt be lowering it since i have x850 pro agp and that should handle bf2 no problem

Well I finally got 3DMark05 down, I got just over 8100. That's without closing any processes though, I had a few things like Wifi connection, Vet Anti-Virus, TV schedule and winamp agents on, etc, but it's fairly realistic. Oh and my RAM was the cheapest decent set I could buy, so I don't imagine them having spectacular latencies either. But don't forget a lot of those public benchmark results are from people who only care about tweaking their system to get the maximum score, if you skip the first 5 or so pages of results you'll get something closer to a realistic score. I saw several pages of 10,000+ when comparing my specs.
As for your gaming issues; if you've done the usual stuff, latest drivers (for ALL devices, not just graphics), setting decent visual options (just because one might have the best video card around, doesn't mean they can run a game released at the same time with maximum settings), closing processes hogging CPU time (Norton or McAffee products are usually culprits), etc, just by looking at your hardware I'd say your CPU might be slowing you down. I personally wouldn't run BF2 on anything less than an Athlon 3500, but then I've never tried to run it on anything other than the PC in my profile. Also, BF2 needs a decent amount of RAM to run adequately, if you have less than 1-1.5GB you're going to have issues no matter how good your CPU and GPU. |
